for Phil on testosterone gel

Posted by IsoM on May 17, 2002, at 3:03:15

Phil, I was just reading the posts in PB 2000 & saw Tina's comment on the gel. I saw the same thing on health news on TV too. Before they said much, I was wondering "hmmm... now *where* is one supposed to apply this gel?" but no, it wasn't there but on your chest & shoulders, instead, for it to be absorbed.

I don't understand why it's in gel form though. Wouldn't it make better sense to make it a pill or a patch like women's replacement therapy hormones? The news piece did say it was to help with mood swings that 'aging' men can go through. Bet that sort of comment makes men feel young, hey?

Thanks IsoM, Saw my doc a few days ago and sould have results of the test this coming week. He told me the pills didn't have good absorbtion or something to that effect. I has read about the patches and that some were stuck where I wouldn't want to put a patch! They found with the patch in the genital area that some mens wives or girlfriends started adding more facial hair, etc. hahahaha He told me about the gel. If I need replacement therapy, I'll see if they have a hair gel out? Kill 2 birds w/ 1 stone!

...you should know it's not a 'lack' of testosterone that cause men to lose their hair but too much! Remember - there are no bald eunuchs. Ah, but there's a price to pay for all that luxuriant hair. What do you think was the reason for Jean Luc's supposed sex appeal in Star Trek?

So the patch is supposed to be stuck over your ears? Hmmm. :-)
I could see why you wouldn't want to stick it there - not just for the difficulty in hearing but how do you answer those sort of questions?
