Sorry I didnt make myself clear.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, one of the most successful treatment strategies for BPD, based on innovations in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy of the past decade.

I am supposed to try it, but my insurance wont cover it. All insurance co's suck. I am going to try individual DBT, its not as time consuming as the group one.

Its amazing to me, i honestly dont know how people afford this?
I read so much about how borderlines, truly dont want help(pure bs) etc,.. but my god common sense would explain.., the average borderline is not gonna be of great wealth (because of their illness itself). How in the world is someone supposed to afford this kind of treatment?
Im all for it, and i have sought out all that i see at my disposal, but i simply dont have the funds to do this without putting my whole family in the hole and beyond.
Let me know how it goes? And the best of luck to you!
The concept of DBT seems to make more sense than anything else ive read about.

If you get your therapist to write a letter to your insurance saying that you need DBT, and you are not a candidate for anything else, then they will pay for it, even if they dont have it in their network. Though if your from MA like me, good luck cause i cant find any DBT that will take me.

Thats the great UK for you!

(I'm BPD by the way) Have friends with BPD whohave had it and can't say enough good things about it.. I'm really hopeful this will help me - eventually!!!

I have found it extremely helpful....don't know
what more to say about it than that. It's been
well worth it to me.

I don't know what more you could say about it than that. It makes me so frustrated that there isn't any outpatient DBT available locally. I've been reading the books and manuals and it seems like such a sound concept.

I'm so glad you are able to benefit from it.

It is extremely frustrating that what seems like the first big break through (meds aside) in the treatment(and recovery) of BPD seems to be out of arms reach to the masses.
Its good to hear that those who have been through it have experienced good results tho, that at least gives hope.

Hmm, sounds like something I should try.
I think if I did it I wouldn't want to know
much about it going into it.

Anyone know of resources in Austin , Tx?

I was familiar with cognitive behavioural
therapy techniques when my 1st doc tried to
work with me and it spoiled the majic going
into it. Is this totally different?

It's really for anyone. It was originally used for
BPD, but now they use the same principals and find
they help anyone. I have neither BPD or Bipolar and
it's helped me. I do have cyclothymia and it has helped
my cycles smooth out some.
