As a start-up side effect for the SSRIs,
Paxil leans towards being more sedating and less
agitating, whereas Zoloft/Prozac tend to be
stimulating/insmonia. Don't know much about
Celexa, maybe more a wild card. These are just
statistical trends/observations. The side effects
wear off over time. Hopefully as the SSRI works
in conjunction with Remeron, you will get an enhanced
lift of depression and decrease in anxiety in a few
weeks.

Good luck,
John

well i told my pdoc my sleep is ok but could be better on remeron, and that its not giving me the antidepressant effect i want. So he started me out on 10mg with 30mg of remeron at bedtime, to help with sleep, and build seratonin levels. i just dont need waking up to stomach pains. Remeron may counteract that because it has infinitty for antinausea 5ht3 receptors. May be a good mix. Hey may add neurontin latter down the road if my mood fluctuates. I also take .5mg of xanax when i wake up, and another at 3pm. If i get too tired, i drink coffee and im fine.

I wish I took high dose Remeron when I took paxil.
I might have got a response and it would have killed the
unbearable nausea.

I took Remeron with some Serzone a few times (God help me
I didn't check for drug interactions) because the Serzone start
up was making me nauseaus and it went away almost immediately.

Good luck, it looks like you are becoming a polished psychopharmacologist!

geno:

I noticed your post about Gabril (sp?), and I too wondered if you meant Gabitril. I'm also on that--just started with 4 mg.--as a replacement for Serzone, which I am slowly tapering. I have insomnia only. Anyway, your post unnerved me--numb face and tongue? Then I saw this post and realized you're taking a lot of medications--Paxil, Xanix, Remeron, Gabritril.

As is evidenced by this web site, everyone's body is different, and everyone seems to be taking so many different chemical combos that it's hard to determine the culprit when symptoms like yours happen. I was rescued from insomnia by Serzone, yet others find no relief. I take Sonata when I'm having a bad night, and I'm out like a light; others get hopped up on the stuff.

So I'm trying to put it into perspective. I hope we aren't all discouraged when we hear about bad reactions. (One man's trash is another man's treasure; one man's meat is another man's poison--or person!)

I am new here and trying not to be frightened of what may be in store for me. I don't want to wake up in a panic with a numb face. I already have enough trouble sleeping! I think I might not have been as upset with the Gabitril post had I known you were also on all that other stuff. I'm sorry for your bad reaction and hope you are able to get some relief.
