Zoloft verses Celexa

Posted by RGD on February 5, 2002, at 6:38:28

Hello,

I have been taking Zoloft for 20 days.I started with the starter pack .... 20mg then 50mg thereafter. I've been sweating profusely with Zoloft. My doctor suggest that I try Celexa. Does anyone have any input on Celexa verses Zoloft.

thanks,
RDGD

I currently take 40 mg Celexa. I have been on Celexa for over 2 years. Previously, I took Prozac, but not Zoloft. Celexa is a very effective drug. For me it works better than Prozac, but everyone reacts differently.

An advantage of taking Celexa is that it has a good side effect profile which will get even better in a couple of months when a new version of Celexa hits the market (called Lexapro).

I think that Celexa may be better than Zoloft if you have anxiety in addition to depression. However, Zoloft should be more "activating" (or energizing) for most people. But the bottom line is that they are both very good and effective antidepressants.

Hi...

I think you doctor has right. Celexa is a pure ssri. Zoloft also act some in dopamine receptors. Therefore profundus sweating can occure more frequent with Zoloft.

What you also can do, is to add hytrinex. It´s often very effective against sweating, if you what to stay on Zoloft.

Sorry for my bad spelling. Not from U.S

Best Wishes...//Petters

Hi,

Interesting thing about sweating on antidepressants. I have taken Zoloft and Celexa and I notice more sweating on Celexa (only my armpits-strange) than any of the others! I am taking a little Wellbutrin now and if I take much more only my *feet* sweat. Everybody's different. If the sweating is really bugging you I would switch away from the Zoloft.

I am going to start Celexa soon. I am weaning off Effexor now. I am comforted by the fact that Bill L says it is an effective drug. Prozac worked miracles, when it worked for me (suddenly it stopped). I think it is trial and error with all these meds. Good luck to everyone and Thanks for the info Bill.

Hi, I was just wondering how your Celexa is going...I too am just coming off of Effexor. I have taken Celexa in the past, but not for a few years. How was your transfer?
