HI all-
I've been reading a lot of good stuff in these archives but haven't been able to find regarding the subject of this email: Would (or IS) SAM-e used for stimulant poop out? I've been on stimulants on and off for many year becuse of treatment refractory depression and they have been the only things to really help. However, since "revisiting" Dexedrine lately it pooped out on me. I started with 10mg spansules 3x daily and it was if i were taking nothing. My doc has since double the dosage and I am doing better- but I am worried to how I could have built up such a tolerance so quickly? Or am I metablozing dexedrine too fast? One doctor I spoke with about this suggested that a medication like Sinemet is helpful to help stimulate dopamine production. Am I dopamine depleted? My depression's main "features" are apathy, low motivation, and a general "flatness" to everything. I'm taking Desipramine and Seroquel which has produced some help - but not full relief. I was on Desipramine, Seroquel and Provigil - however the Provigil's effects wore off in a couple of weeks. So I guess that brings me back to using SAM-e to help energize dopamine production - among other things. Can anyone help me out here?

P.S. I did read a thread regarding the use of 5-HTP along with amphetamine - but was unable to tell if the combination was a positive thing or a negative thing. ??

I don't know the answers to any of your questions, but would definitely be interested in trying Sam-e if there is evidence of dopamine enhancement.

Jerry,I haven't tried SAM-e (yet), but I wonder if the Seroquel you are taking (DA antagonist) is interfering with the Dexedrine (which is a DA agonist-releasing agent). Maybe you could reduce the dose of your Seroquel which might allow the Dexedrine to work better?

Hmmm...good question - however, I've had the stimulant poop-out before taking the Seroquel - but I shall investigate....thanks

I've been taking 1600mg /day of the Nature Made SAM-e - Ihave no side effects but no good ones either. I take it in the morning on an empty stomach and Bcomplex vitamin. I need something to restore my dopamine, etc because I'm taking 60mg dexedrine day and I'm falling asleep at my desk at work.......
