Effexor Help

Posted by Todd D on December 27, 2001, at 9:53:43

I started on 37.5 Effexor for 1 week than went up to 75 since then. I have been on Effexor for around 2 months total. It worked good at first but now it seems to be losing it's effectiveness. I am starting to experience some side effects like slight blurred vision (especially driving at night) and fatigue. My depression seems to be coming back more and more each day. I am going to see my doctor in a few days and would like to suggest something to him because he really listens to my input. Has anyone had success with increasing the effexor dose or does it cause even more side effects? I have also read about adding Remron to Effexor, has anyone had luck with that combo? Any input and experiences would be very helpful to help suggest to my doctor what works and he can determine where to go from here.

My doc said that 150 mg.of Effexor is a typical therapeutic dose. I would step up once more and see if that helps. The side effects for me were probably a little worse but it has been worth it.

Personally, I wouldn't be adding any med to my mix until I was assured that what I was taking (in a sufficient dos)e was not working.

From reading on here, some suggest that the blurred vision is dryness. Have you tried some eye drops? My blurred vision comes and goes and is mild; it is not a show stopper.

As for sleepiness, that is tough. Exercise helps to get the blood flowing but it can be hard to fight through. I do enjoy an occasional cup of coffee. :-)

Good luck.

Hi, I have been on effexor around two ears and am up to 425mgs. I was responding well but after a time it would wear off, so we would up it and on it went, my psych said we just needed to find the right dose, well we havent and now im going to have to go off effexor because the blurry vision has gotton worse with the increased dosage. She is going to try me on amitryptaline. I dont know what to suggest mybe increasing would help I know it did for me, but then it went bad again, but i would suggest not going too high, because i am not looking forward to getiing off this dose which i have too before going on to another med. Maybe this med isnt for you i know the blurry vision is crap and just got worse.
good luck though
