effexor XR and the pill

Posted by sid on December 10, 2001, at 19:06:24

Hi,
I seem to be having a side effect that I have not read about with Effexor XR.

I just started taking it a couple of weeks ago, lowest possible dose, and even though I'm on the pill (Ortho Tricyclen), my hormones seem to be out of wack. I got my period one week ahead of time, and I am not sure when it'll end. Usually it lasts 3 or 4 days while on the pill (placebo week), this time it's been 9 days. Has anyone had this with Effexor XR? When not on the pill I'm usually very predictable too (date and TIME predicatble), so this is really unusual for me.

I'm seeing my GP about the Effexor XR next week so I'll talk to her about this too, but I was wondering about others' experiences with the pill and ADs.
Thanks in advance.

- Sid

I was on the pill the entire time I took Effexor XR (6 years) and never had the problem you mentioned. Could it be something else? Stress? Did you change the time of day you take the pill? Talk to your doc when you see him/her, but you might want to wait it out and see what happens next month. HTH

Thanks. No, the only thing that changed is the Effexor. I will definitely talk to my doc about it. I also asked the pharmacist who said there should be no interaction, so I find it weird. I don't have pain, at least that's that !
