Effexor is mind poison!

Posted by Christian on December 10, 2001, at 16:30:13

I was only on effexor xr for three weeks and it has given me twice the anxiety I had before I taking it. I
did not taper off once I got to 37.5 mg and now I have a weird feeling in my eyes and head all the time. When I was on the drug I felt confused, and not myself. Fuck Effexor, it has made my life worst.

A remedy for you.

Hi Christian,

I took Effexor 75mg for 7 days and then came off cold turkey, it was nasty !!! Felt like i had the worst 'flu ever. After 4 days I took Prozac 10 mg and like a switch those symptoms disappeared, I felt normal, well as normal as I could back then when I was severely depressed!!

It is quite common for people to withdraw from effexor using Prozac, because it replaces the EXR and has a very long half life and therefore produces no withdrawal symptoms in most people.

Ask your doctor about it, don't suffer any more than you need to.

Good luck, let me know how you get on,
J

christen, im not preaching, but be careful of your lauguage, i said that f word and got banned for 2 weeks, i apologized to dr bob. Anywya, ya effexor, is bad. TO me it was like a extacy/lsd trip, even at a low dose. i guess you have to take strong benzo with it to counteract the scary side effects, as anxiety, sweating ect.

I tried to get off of Effexor XR without any other drugs to help take the edge off. It was horrible! I was off for 5 days and I couldn't take it anymore. (I was on 300mg for years and started decreasing in June) Went back on 25mg of Effexor (tablets) and have just started 10mg of Prozac. Will take both for 10 days, to get Prozac in my system, then will cut Effexor in half while continuing to take Prozac. Hope to successfully get off of Effexor using Prozac, as you said. Glad to hear it worked for someone else!
