Adding Effexor XR to Zoloft

Posted by Erin59 on October 12, 2001, at 16:41:57

Hello to all,
I was diagnosed with major depression and PTSD earlier this year. My Pdoc just added 37.5 mgs of Effexor to my daily dose of 150 mgs of Zoloft after feeling the Zoloft was not having much effect after 6 weeks.I am also on Klonopin for anxiety and Seroquel for sleep and to alleviate morbid thoughts. I am always extremely tired and somber (when I am not in an episode, I am fairly gregarious and active). I was on Wellbutrin for a while (by my GP after a bad experience w/ Celexa) but that seemed to poop out, plus it was steering me into anorexia. I did like the results of the drug when it was working (energy, motivation, etc.) and I had few side effects from it. I also has few side effects from Zoloft other than extreme tiredness. I also have Adranfinil to counter the fatique. My biggest struggle has been with sucidal tendencies, including obtaining methods and making plans. I feel like I am on a medication "merry-go-round" and I am begining to get frustrated and impatience. Needless to say, trusted friends and family members are very concerned. Any advice or input from "veterans" would be appreciated as this is my 2nd episode after 16 years and I have been undertreated (well, actually, not treated at all) and my 1st episode years ago culminated into a severe suicide attempt.
Trying to hang on.
Thanks in advance as there are few I can safely discuss this with.
Erin
