Hi Vicky,

I can't speak for everyone, but here's my experience:

It should work right away; that is, you should note marked increase in wakefullness within an hour on an empty stomach, within 1-1/2 hours on full stomach.

I had to take 2 200mg (400mg total) caplets to get any effect at all. On occasions, I have had to take an extra 100 or 200 mg later in the day to sustain my wakefullness, although that was unusual.

Also, I have noticed that this medication can "poop out" after two or three weeks of continuous use, at which time I switch back to methylphenidate (generic Ritalin). I have taken both in the same day (to stay awake when the Provigil has faded), but I try to avoid taking both together.

Provigial provides a good break from methylphenidate and vice versa. While I have insurance to cover it, I probably could not afford to take Provigil if I didn't.

There's a chance you're just not taking enough of it. Likewise, because it acts in a different way from caffeine or methyphenidate, it does not give me a sense of feeling "speedy." It is a very different type of wakefullness, with fewer somatic side effects, in my experience.

Please check with your doctor to see if it would be OK for you to increase your dose to 200mg or 400mg a day.

Best wishes,

Mark H.

hi! well day 3 Provigil. Can't believe the energy I have!!! Not hyper, but just
have energy to actually do things, and look forward to doing things, instead of wondering when the desire to sleep is going to hit me.
so far this is fantastic stuff!!!!can't believe it.
Only problem, is that I haven't slept well the past 2 nites. don't know if its just me or maybe it is the provigil
but I like it!!! So far so good!!!!
