High Blood Pressure

Posted by Rosa on August 22, 2001, at 9:19:00

Recently, I checked my medications for drug interactions at www.drkoop.com.

What I found was that out of five medications for high blood pressure there were seven drug interactions and one food interaction.

I asked to be taken off Indural and was prescribed Toprol-XL.

What has been your experience with Toprol-XL?

What has your experience been with Lopressor, Toprol XL, (metoprolol)?

[I cannot take this medication because I have bradycardia; there is also a family history of heart blockages. Do not take this medication with Clonidine.]

Drug interaction with insulin and oral antidiabetic agents.

Use cautiously in patients with heart failure, diabetes, or respiratory or hepatic disease and in those taking other antihypertensives.

Metoprolol masks signs of shock and hypoglycemia.
