I'm wondering if you have any long term effects from Paxil. I'm currently still trying to get off of it and the withdrawal has been horrible. Just wondering if it will have any affects on me that will last a lifetime.

There is no evidence of serious long-term safety problems with any antidepressant, based on spontaneous reports to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). I've been off it a year and doing ok. I went from 40mg to 10mg. 20-10mg was so horrendous I did what I read on the internet...switched to 10mg of prozac from 10mg paxil. Prozac has a longer half life making withdrawl worse. But instead of finally quitting prozac like I intended I stayed on (I was still symptomatic on 10mg prozac). I recommend if you can switching to prozac at the very end to make withdrawl more bearable.
