no appetite, no eating. in fact... not a passing thought to eat. have to do it willfully. no appetite, no eating, no cravings= weightloss.

Hello,
I have been taking Wellbutrin for about 2 and a half years now. In the begining I didn't eat much either, but after a couple of months I didn't have any problems.

I tried adding Wellbutrin to counter the weight gain I was experiencing with Paxil. It definately dulled my appetite. I was completely disinterested with food.
I did however get too agitated from the drug and eventually went off of it (unfortunately.) The loss of appetite was such a plesant surprise after feeling like I had the munchies on Paxil.

question: Did you take Wellbutrin Slow Release?
My sister said the regular Wellbutrin she couldn't tolerate, but the slow release worked well.
Just wondering because I want to get off Paxil. (see my post at bottom of list).

I've been on Wellbutrin for nearly two years now. Overall, I've lost about 5-10 lbs. but I've also made other changes, like I've become a serious runner. I lost all the weight in my first year on Wellbutrin (but I had other medical problems that could account for weight loss too.) I think Wellbutrin's effects on appetite wear off after about 6 months, as your body gets used to the drug. I am skeptical of any pills for weight loss. Your body will adjust to anything. I'm back to the same overeating that I did pre-Wellbutrin.

I was already losing weight when I started Wellbutrin, but the WB seemed to make the problem worse.

You know, you really are correct. No matter what it still boils down to eating less than you burn. So, exercise is the #1 key; for me low carbs worked well for my body type. I can eat chicken, turkey and green salads/green veggies every day and dont' miss the fruit and breads (well ... when I'm being good). but, as my younger sons says "when you going back on your diet mom?" I am exercising at least ...

Wellbutrin caused more loss of appetite and weight. This could be an advantage for some people, of course; for me, it was a problem.

I started (this time) with Celexa...rapidly gained 15 pounds in 4 weeks. I begged the DR to switch me to Wellbutrin, since MOST people lost weight on it...NOT ME....gained more since starting the meds....HELP..is there anything out there for me? I am ready to quit all these meds and deal with the depression, instead of the weight! Any suggestions?

Hmmm...Celexa was the first AD I was on. That was about two years ago. I lost weight on Celexa. When Celexa pooped out I gained it all back. Then I was switched to Effexor and I lost the weight again. I've kept it off and since switching (again...) to WB I have no appetite. I need to lose about 15 lbs (I'm 5'3" and weigh 135) so I hope it lasts. What worries me is that since switching to WB I'm very focused on loosing weight. Almost like it's giving an anorexic effect.

I could only pray for the anoxexic effect! I am so afraid that in another couple of months it will be so out of control, there will be no turning back! I have gone from 125 up to ???,well, not a size 4 anymore!....need some advice quick!
