LAMICTAL, start up anxiety???

Posted by chloe on June 7, 2001, at 9:42:08

I just started a small dose of Lamictal to try and replace my other mood stablizer, Trileptal and my AD, Celexa. I am still on the two above, but since I added Lamictal, I am SO anxious and can't sleep.

Does this go away in time, or is this how Lamictal works? I hate this edgy feeling and not being about to sleep makes it even worse. Please, anyone, do you have any good things to say about Lamictal stabilizing mood and reducing irritation? I am running out of mood stabilizers! And I was so hoping this could be the one that helped. Now I am not so sure.

Any info or anecdotes would help a lot.
TIA
Chloe

Chloe here,
Does anyone have anything to say about Lamictal???

Please, I have so much energy and can't sleep, still after one week. Did anyone else experience this on start up, and then it went away?

I know there must be someone out there!
Thanks.

Thanks for answering. I have spent alot of time searching. But haven't found any indication that the anxiety or sleep disturbances get better over time. I guess i will just have to stick it out and see what happens...
Thanks again for replying.

Sorry, Chloe. I guess you've stumped everyone. The only thing I can think of is that you are bipolar and are having a sort of mild dysphoric mania. Manic reactions to Lamictal seem to be very infrequent, but they do happen. Perhaps the thing to do would be to leave the Lamictal in place and add Neurontin to it. This combination has been reported by the NIH to be useful in treating stubborn bipolar depressions.

Good luck.
