Should I increase dosage

Posted by Diana Hurry on May 15, 2001, at 20:21:45

I started on Effexor XR 35mg. for one week then 75mg for one month. I mentally feel better than I have in a very long time (probably a year) but still feel very
tired. Should I increase my dosage to 150mg per day?
Would definitely like to have my old energy level back. Even if I can't get my energy level back I feel so much better. I haven't seen any side effects.

If you do get the okay to increase your dosage to 150 mg, you can minimize daytime anergia by taking the Effexor XR all at bedtime.

I'm on Effexor too. There are several posts about it in last weeks archive. It took several weeks (two months?) for the sleepiness to go away. This drives some crazy but it is so worth it for me. My doctor increased my dosages VERY slowly compared to others here. I would say increase if the 75mg doesn't make you feel truly normal. Personally, if most of us are taking the extended release (XR), I don't see how the daytime v. nighttime dosage would change much if anything. But my Dr. said the samething. But that's just me.

I was on Ritalin, a stimulant when I first started Effexor. It helps alot but I still needed extra sleep. Now everything for me has kicked in and my body has adjusted. I'm off the Ritalin, I've been at 225 mg of Effexor(It took me 5 months to get here) for one month and the sleepiness is completely gone and I feel great! Like you I was willing to accept the energy loss b/c the drug worked. I think if you get it "just right" you get past the sleepiness. I think that is why my Dr. moved me along so slowly.

Hope you'll be better soon.
