Fatigue on Prozac

Posted by Mr.Scott on May 2, 2001, at 16:14:45

Just ended a 5 year relationship, so I upped the Prozac to 30 mg a day so I don't jump off my roof dealing with the "no one will ever love me again with all my horrible faults fear". It seems to make me sleepy. Anyone have any advice for me?

I feel for you tremendously, man. Hopefully you won't have to do anything else except raise your Prozac dose. If you start to be depressed again, you may need an augmentation agent like Lithium or buspirone.

Hi Scott,
Sorry to hear about your relationship. Prozac made me very tired too. My doc added Wellbutrin (300 mg. a day) This seemed to help somewhat.

Worth a try!

Hang in there,

Sorry about your relationship. I went from 20 mg to 40 mg Prozac after a month. The fatigue might lessen; give it a chance. I do have insomnia at night though so I take a benzo before bedtime. Is it possible for you to try dosing differently; 20 mg in the a.m. 10 mgs in the pm or vice versa; I would try everything because it's a good med and it works. I guess we're all different. I had no problems going from 20 mg straight to 40 mg Prozac with no side effects [except black & blue marks which I got with other SSRIs]. Try to take some time to evaluate things, and know that your life is not over.
