Serzone for Panic Attacks

Posted by huntzinger on March 28, 2001, at 9:12:07

Hey everybody. I took Paxil for about 3 years for panic attacks, stopped when I became pregnant and did fine. About 3 months after my daughter was born I had a major panic attack! Got back on Paxil and have a prescription of xanax for emergencies (about 1 x per 2 weeks I take one). I have now started taking Serzone, but it makes me feel just "yucky" - like I am hungover. How long does this last? Has anyone experienced good results w/ Serzone for panic attacks? Please respond. Thanks!

I found Serzone to be terrible for me; it agitated me. Why not stay on Paxil [if your still like it] and take the Xanax when necessary. I am on Prozac with Xanax at bedtime. I used to take Paxil which worked but I was always hungry. Serzone gave me the worst insomnia, and I had crying jags about 10 or 12 days into it. I hope things work out for you, but Serzone may not be the right med.

How come I have never heard of Serzone being prescribed for panic attacks?

Hi Huntzinger.

I was prescribed Xanax for severe panic attacks initially. It worked, but left me feeling very dozy. My doc didn't want me to become addicted on them, especially as I have an addictive nature, so he slowly took me off Xanax and put me on Clomipramine. I have found Clomipramine to be very good in treating my panic attacks. In fact, after being on the drug for about three weeks, I now no longer take it, and no longer have panic attacks. I manage to talk myself out of it when I feel an attack trying to come on! I wish you luck in your own attacks.

Lisa

Hi everyone,

I took Serzone for about five months and found that it did relieve my symptoms of anxiety but it was over a period of several months. All of us know that if you're experiencing anxiety attacks you want relief NOW! At first the drug was tough to handle, I had mood swings and headaches, but I honestly believe it is worth giving a chance. I am one of two people I know who have taken it and we both responded well after some initial difficulty. My advice give it a chance, the changes will be very gradual. Good luck,

Ronnie
