Celexa, Selegiline and Nefazodone....

Posted by Myra Ellen on March 14, 2001, at 14:27:19

What are these medications. I know that Celexa is an antidepressent, but doers it help with Anxiety...and what about these other drugs...the Selegiline and the Nefazodone, do they help with anxiety and depression? I have also noticed that I am having outrageous mood swings. I am getting angry a lot easier than I have been in the past. Little things irritate and aggravate me and my anger comes out in a strange way. I am yelling and swearing a lot and I cannot think I can only be angry. My boyfriend is having a hard time with this because it is unusual and I have not always been like this. Is it possible that this could be a side effect from Paxil?

Personally, I do believe it could be side effect of Paxil. When I was taking Prozac I was a total nut. selegiline is an MAO inhibitor but at low doses below 15mg no dietary restrictions are needed. Doesn't work well for Anxiety in my so far limitted experience with it. Nefazodone
is probably a good option to try. I developed sever headaches on it and felt like I was drugged, but others I know think it's great. Some say it's better for anxiety than depression. Celexa is an SSRI but I've heard its more soothing, more sedating, has less sexual side effects, and causes more weight gain. I'm sure there are those would disagree with my analysis.
