Wednesday March 1st 2002 Last pill

I was first on zoloft 50mg once a day since 9/98. Then about 7 months ago they switch me to effexor 37.5 mg 1 pill twice daily. I have been down to one pill for over a month. Now I am being tolds to skip a day and the next day take one for 3 treatmenst and then quit. I am wondering what side affects people had the first couple of days since I drive over 30 miles to get to work with my child to take her to day care. I am wondering if it is a good idea to take a day or two off . Also I am wondering what to expect to see happen.
Thankyou.

Some people go through a difficult withdrawal on Effexor. I did the last time I was on it--I counted grains to titrate down my dosage. Cam was kind enough to let me know the reason for the difficult withdrawal is that Effexor has such a short half life and one way of dealing with this is to take a small dose of Prozac (which has a long half life) to ease the transition as you are titrating down. This apparently makes the withdrawal easier. I did not do this when I withdrew and I found that I had some pretty bad days emotionally and felt sluggish. Unless you are able to augment with a longer half-life drug like Cam suggests, I would take some time off work to see how it goes for your self.
