lamictil - wellbutrin - risperdol - prozac

Posted by jennjenn on February 2, 2001, at 14:35:49

yep. i'm on all of them. 200 mg wellbutrin, .5 mg risperdol, 40 mg prozac and am just starting lamictil.

does anyone have experience with lamictil? so far it's not doing anything that i can tell. but i'm only on 12.5 mg for a week, then i'll go up slowly.

i'm beginning to think that i may fall into the class of those unfortunates who are classed as "non-responders". i'm thinking the next step may be ect.

any advice would be welcome.

thanks

I've found that lamictal is the best mood stabilizer for me to use. My psychiatriast also says that lamictal is the best MS, but he doesn't use it much because of the rash. You won't get any effects from it until you're taking at least 100 mg twice a day...at least I didn't. They're going to have to raise it slowly to see if you get that rash though. Give it time, it works very well for people who don't respond to other MS's like me. It's also GREAT for the depression side of things.

Wow, that's quite a few meds to be on.

I've tried Lamictal twice (by itself).
The 1st time I got a rash and severe
dermititis when my doc got me upto 100mg.
Usually you can pull back the dose if this
happens and see if the rash goes away, and
then titrate up. The dermititis was bad
enough to quit the med (i should have given
it a chance in retrospect)

The 2nd time (now), I started taking it due
to Klonopin poop-out. I found that taking the
Lamictal removed about ~75 % of the Klonopin
withdrawl symptoms. I dosed it slowly at 1st
until I got to 100mg. I also used crazy
precautions like buying anti-dandruff/psoriasis
shampoo and rubbing it over the body. Anyways
I never got a severe rash and I cranked it upto
300 mg. I also took folate supplements
because the PDR mentioned something
about lamictal reducing the bodies supply of folate. Don't know if my precautions helped,
but I never got the rash. Also Lamictal has
been a great mood stabilizer for me with
pretty much no side effects.
