Does anyone have any information concerning whether human clinical trials of Befloxatone are being conducted in the U.S.?

Befloxatone is an MAO inhibitor. It is superficially similar to moclobemide in that it is both reversible and selective for the MAO-A enzyme (thus RIMA - Reversible Inhibitor of Mao-A). It is the MAO-A enzyme that is probably most involved in the majority of cases that are successfully treated with MAOIs.

I had heard about a year ago that befloxatone was indeed being considered by the drug company for market in the U.S. I would be interested in trying this drug myself. Thanks for bringing it up. If you guys find out anything, please post.

Thanks a lot.

Sincerely,
Scott

Company: Sanofi-Synthelabo

"In the U.S., we have several compounds in Phase III. These include pentasaccharide, which is under clinical study for the prevention of deep-vein thrombosis; befloxatone, under investigation as a treatment for depressive disorders"
