ZOLOFT [headaches]

Posted by Joy on December 2, 2000, at 8:42:32

Hi. I am on Zoloft [about 35 mg] for 11 days now and want to go up to 50 mg. I've had a headache 6 of the last 8 days. Will these headaches go away? I'm so frustrated. I take Maxalt [migraine med] which takes them away but this med is expensive. Anybody relate to this? Will these headaches go away? How long? Thanks.

Dear Joy,

I had GREAT success w/Zoloft but when I did get headaches, it was an indication that I had too much Zoloft in my system. (I was at 200 mgs). The heachaches were weird, too. They felt like my head was a video game on speed and I could hear/feel the sensation of crackling saran wrap. How on earth do you get 35 mgs of Zoloft anyway?

I had to switch to prozac because of the headaches I got with Zoloft.

Hi Joy,

I am on zoloft, wellbutrin, and depakote. In my early days (before the wellbutrin was added), I too got *really bad* headaches. I attributed them to the depakote, but you know, it might have been the zoloft. All I can say is stick it out. They pretty much went away after about 9 months. I take 1 advil (200 mg ibuprofen) and it usually helps a lot.

Good luck, and keep us posted with your progress.

Ted
