Celexa and insomnia

Posted by Eileen on August 30, 2000, at 12:30:35

I am currrently taking 20 mg of Celexa for 2 months and I feel great, better than I have in years. I have noticed that I am a bit more tired during the day and have trouble sleeping a night. Will taking Magnesium help and if so, at what dosage? Also has anyone had any problems with withdrawl?
Thanks

Eileen:

I notice the same problem with Celexa. I'm at 40mg and my sleep is very interrupted. I'm seeing my doctor next week and plan to ask him what to do. I'll let you now what he says. Adding Wellbutrin to the mix will take care of your daytime sleepiness, as well as sexual dysfunction and weight gain. I doubt it will help with insomnia, however.

Several of the above posts discuss Celexa withdrawl, BTW.

> have been on prozac, wellbutrin, and now celexa- all disrupted my sleep, especially wellbutrin it woke me up every two hours. Celexa has been the best for me in terms of sleep.

hi eileen,
I have only been on celexa 20 mg for only two weeks, never being on antidepessants in the past and have found that one of the side effect of insomnia to be quite annoying to say the least! not to mention dry mouth and not being able to climax.
I am seeing my doctor this week and will ask for advice, i have heard alot said about wellbutrin in combo w/ SSRI's. i will keep ya posted
