'Nother doc appt Now on Lithium Too-Question??????

Posted by tina on August 4, 2000, at 8:41:31

Hello everybody: I hope all is well or soon will be for everyone. I have noticed some Lithium questions on the board lately and just wanted you all to know that after my doc appt yesterday, I am now taking lithium with my moclobemide and clonazepam as augmentaion. I noticed a difference after the first pill but after the second I felt totally wasted and loopy. My Dad let me test drive his new car and I drove so fast and so crazy it was stupid, but I loved every minute of it. I got giddy, silly and started acting like a nut. I danced in the street-literally-and drove the car with the window down and my head and shoulders sticking out howling at the moon and screaming at the top of my lungs at everything. I was effectively behaving as if I were drunk. Don't get me wrong, I liked the feeling. I felt gloriously uninhibited and free but I think it might lead to dangerous actions in the future. For once, I had peace in my head. I wasn't thinking at all.
So, I guess I'm wondering if this is a normal reaction to lithium and it will soon calm down when I become accustomed to the drug or is something terribly wrong with me or my reaction to the drug??
Thanks guys
Peace and hugs
Tina
PS: Taking lithium because recently been diagnosed bipolar II atypical depression

Wow Tina!!!

It actually soudns similar to how I felt the first few pills of Effexor... Enjoyable, but worrying - kinda too hyper for other people.

Good to see you got some enjoyment out of it though hun, as things ahve been so hard for you recently.

Take care..

Nikki xx

ps - Sorry I couldn't answer the lithium questions!

Glad you're feeling better, but stay in touch with you doc about this reaction, OK? Promise? Scoots honour?

Love you,

Hi Tina - So glad you're :-) instead of :-(

Woah!! You sound like a teenager!!! The one thing my son & I have been know to do together frequently & both enjoy, was to go what we called "cruising"; late in the evening we'd go to Taco Bell or some take-out place & cruise the country roads playing LOUD Metallica or heavy music with the windows open (if it was warm enough!). We did keep body parts inside the car though, so it sounds as though you've got us beat!

Take care, & keep in touch.

Love ya, Kath

It must have felt pretty nifty to be so carefree.
