Noa & Medlib

I always look forward to your encouraging words and knowledge. The board will seem a little empty without you two. It would be nice to keep you here but I respect your decisions.

Just one thing, when you DO come back try to ignore posters who can be irritants. They exist on every board and most of the time need to be ignored. There are so many good people here including the two of you and we don't want to lose our good contributer's.

Enjoy your vacation and come back when you're ready.

Chris

I'll miss you. I hope you find something that will give as much back to you as you both have given the board. You were certainly two of the people on the board I found the most trustworthy and useful.

Thanks for everything and come back when you're ready. God be with you-O.

Noa, Medlib, listen, you both are very, very sweet but you are making a mistake if you leave this site. Bobb (or whoever) reminds me of a dog that is all bark but no bite, just a petty maelstrom of words over the internet. This Bobb has no real power to hurt you. All the bluster, intimidation and put downs he can muster don’t mean a thing if it falls deaf on your ears. He is just a voice, and he has power only if you choose to empower him, only if you choose to listen to him and make him a real threat. If leave the site you, you are running away. And don’t blame it on him, he didn’t make you feel unsafe. You chose to perceive a threat where there is none.

But the real shame is that by abandoning the site you abandon the power you have to make a difference in people’s lives. I’ve read truly wonderful posts from both of you. Medlib you just helped a 15 year girl. Where would she be without the information you brought forth. Scared, wondering what the hell was wrong with her? Hurt, wondering why nobody believed her, wondering why they were accusing her of abusing drugs? Do you think that 15 year old would understand if you had told her that you would like to help her but you can’t because somebody said ‘Boo!’ and you have to run away. You have the real power to help people. Don’t abandon this power for what is no more than words that you are falsely perceiving as real threats.

There's a difference between taking care of yourself and being a coward. That old "sticks and stones" business doesn' take feelings seriously enough, I don't think.

Don't call Noa a coward and tell her that she's running away. That's not a very supportive road to take. She IS taking care of herself by walking away. I think she is making a brave move by forging out on her own. Shame on you!!!

as a relative newcomer-and a veteran of other places where bobb's exist, all i can say is remember the radio. that big black knob on the side? it's for turning the damn thing OFF! don't let a blowhard who doesn't even RECOGNIZE compassion when it is offered him keep you from doing what many here believe is a valuable service. you don't buy every magazine on the rack, now do you? i sure don't. i can understand your wanting to take a break but PLEASE be sure and come back. there will always be bobb's. it takes all kinds. nobody ever bothered to explain all kinds of WHAT!

I am so sorry, please don't pay attention to my previous post. Sometimes I can be insensitive and judgemental. I certainly stuck my foot in my mouth this time! You know what you need to do to take care of yourself better than I. I support your need to regain your sense of security. I hope to see your wonderful presences back at the site soon.

Dr. Bob,

Your closing comment reminds me of an exercise a primary school teacher once gave her class. She handed the children a sheet upon which was written the first portion of several well known phrases. The children were to fill in the missing parts. This was a particularly poignant one:

"Sticks and stones will break my bones,"

(and the child wrote)

"But words will break my heart."

I cannot thank you enough for the wonderful support and intelligence that you were willing to share with me. If you ever get down about this place and think that there is too much hostility, remember that this was something very very good and i couldn't have done it without you!
