Omega 3 and depression

Posted by Sara on February 18, 2000, at 23:51:12

Hi,

I've read various things on this site about the use of omega-3 fish oil in combatting depression. i've tried so many antidepressants without sucess that i'm thinking of giving this fish oil things a try. Has anybody had concrete results with it? Does it work best when combined with something else?

Thanks!!

Sara - Nothing concrete on Omega-3 as of yet. It might have some effiacy as a mood stabilizer in certain instances of bipolar disorder, but there is no definitive proof, yet. Ask you doctor before giving it a try and because it is an oil, it may interfere with the absorption of certain medications (just a guess). Sincerely - Cam W.
