from Freud to Jung...

The Freud thread was very interesting, anyone have anything to say about Carl Jung and his work? I don't know enough to comment, but I bet there are a lot of you out there who do!CarolAnn

Don't know much about him other than this classic Calahan cartoon: This bearded shrink-ish-looking guy sitting on a chair in a tub -- people with halos and paint brushes smearing the shrink with something -- two cops stopping two guys with horns, barbed tails, and paintbrushes from doing the same. The caption?

Only the good dye Jung.

(If I find it, I'll post it on my website)

maybe it's just me, but I'm kind of surprised Dr. Bob doesn't know much about Jung.

Go figure...

But I'm "bob (not Dr.)" as opposed to the good Dr., who always signs in as Dr. Bob. And while we share having our own web sites as well as being generally helpful and dashingly handsome, we are not the same person.

We've even sat down and had a beer together at the one NYC_Babblefest that was held (you still out there anita? any other NYC-Babblelanders interested in a face-to-face?). The fact that we did not mutually anihilate one another (as any comic-strip time traveler paradox theorizes should happen when you meet yourself) piece of evidence supporting our autonomy.

;^)

Carl Jung was a follower of Freud. He was also into psychoanalysis...finding the unconcious determinents of behavior, focusing on unconscious motives and experiences inearly childhood (and ofcourse, that behavior is greatly influenced by how people cope with their sexual urges!)

I think he (Freud)deserves credit for exploration into the existence of the "unconscious" and the link between trauma during child hood and mental disorders. But some of his theories I find quite bizzare.

Delicate matters

Apparently, the talk (or threat) of such records kept a few Babblelanders with social phobia away. So, none were taken and none will be (by me, at least) at any potential future ftf's.
