Dr. Bob -- question re spam increase

Posted by Morc on February 9, 2000, at 19:49:12

Hi, doc.

I noticed that ever since posting here last month that I've been swamped with spam. Any connection? Just wondering. Prior to posting, I had very little.

Just for the record, I haven't had any problems with this... Anyone else?

Just fry up the spam & eat it as a late night snack. Goes great with cold macaroni & cheese. Good for people whose cholesterol is too low, also.

It's possible that you might be getting spammed as a result of entering your e-mail in your posts: there are web-wandering "spiders" that spammers use to search web pages for e-mail addresses, which they then collect. Displaying your e-mail ANYWHERE is a risk, though, even, say, on your own web page. If you'd still like to include your e-mail address in your posts, you might want to get a Hotmail account or something for "public" use just to protect your main address from spammers.

That's all!

Yep, must've signed on somewhere I shouldn't have. Good to know it wasn't here.
