ihave been reading about sam-e for arthritis and liver, but i also take 20 mg. prozac daily.. sam-e also works as an anti-depressant and can the 2 be taken together?(aprox 800 mg sam-e)

Yes they can be taken together. However, as with any combination that works synergistically on serotonin, start carefully. I've taken 800mg SAMe with 20mg prozac with no problem. It's no miracle, but it does help. I know someone else who takes 40mg prozac with 400mg SAMe. A SAMe book I was reading said it can be taken to increase the effectiveness of the antidepressant, speed the response, and allow a lower dose. The only side effect I have with SAMe is gas. SAMe has many benefits (except for the price!). It should make the prozac work better too.
