Anyone out there taking this antipsychotic drug for
non-psychotic depression and/or anxiety?

What has your experience been so far? What dosage
are you taking?

I have taked Zyprexa for that reason. I find that the most effective dose is 5 mg at bedtime. I have taken up to 20 mg a day and I find that at doses above 10 mg the drug causes much lethargy and mutes your emotions on all levels. This can be useful for non-psychotic anxiety though.

my pdoc prescribed this for sleep and anxiety, really the later. I took a 2.5MG pill during work this week and practically fell asleep. Way strong. Further it helped my anxiety, but was really too strong. When I used to take valium, that worked on anxiety, and made me feel great. The Zuprex didnt have that valiumy effect. Let me know how your doing

Yes, Zyprexa can cause significant weight gain. If this is a problem, and you still want to take an antipsychotic for anxiety management, then you might want to try Seroquel (quetiapine fumarate), which is a newer drug that has less of an effect on weight.
