Amineptine, amisulpride combo.s with other med.s

Posted by andrewb on July 10, 1999, at 14:36:10

Is it safe to mix amineptine with amisulpride? Are there medications amineptine can't be mixed with such as SSRI's or MAOI's. Is amineptine ever used in combo. with other med.s for dysthymia.
It may benefit me to mix medications in the future but my psychiatrist is unfamiliar with amineptine and amisulpride. Please help.
I'm taking amineptine now with good results but I only take a small dose (50mg.s) otherwise I encounter side effects. Tommorrow I will begin a short washout period and then start to take amisulpride. I want to try amisulpride because it has more specific action on the D2-D3 receptors than amineptine. I'm taking no other medications.

Andrew, I ordered some Amineptine from overseas but it will be a few more weeks till I get it. What side effects were you referring to? I don't really know what to expect, just that I want to try a dopamine med. Thankyou, jamie.

At doses above 50mg. my mind gets flighty, I'm thinking of one thing then my mind skips to something else. High doses can make me irritable. Also colors get brighter, sometimes it seems like they are glowing.

The manufacture recommends a dose of between 100-200mg. For me 50mg. is sufficient.

Sharon, farther up the page in a post entitled "Amineptine & Reboxetine" is the info. you want. Can I give you a word of caution here though? I’ve read of Amnineptine causing problems. It can induce mania in manic depressives. Deaths due to liver failure are attributed to it. Due to its abuse potential it has been banned from many countries including the US and UK and just recently Thailand and Spain. Therefore I would think it is preferable to take Amineptine with the oversight and input of a psychiatrist, especially one experienced with antidepressants that act upon the dopamine pathways. Best wishes.
