Sorry, I can't give you any exact figures, but I just thought I would add that my psychiatrist uses a different thyroid scale than regular physicians. Although I had a thyroid test within the "normal" range according to the lab and doctor, it was lower than she wanted it to be and she started me on a thyroid enhancer. She believes it helped bring me out of a depression. So, what's "normal" to one may not be "normal" to another.

I too am unsure of the exact figures but many doctors disagree on the appropriate thyroid range. Some doctors go by a temperature scale; check your temperature every morning before rising (under the arm for 15 minutes is considered most accurate) and keep a record for 5-7 days. If your readings are consistently lover than 97.6; some in the medical field you DO you have an underactive thyroid however finding a doctor that will actually help you is tough, because the majority of doctors go by the blood numbers and that's it. Personally I found ob-gyns (sorry I don't know if you are male or female) to be more receptive the temperature method.
By the way, low thyroid function can definitely cause depression and other problems. Good luck finding a doc that will help you; sometimes you have to persistent (as I am sure you know) to get your point across.
