Klonopin, Serzone questions

Posted by Amanda on February 3, 1999, at 17:32:55

switiching from nortriptyline to serzone. Been taking a combo of Klonopin & Nortriptyline for 5 years. concerned about withdrawl from nortriptyline. Also, is 5 years too long to take klonopin?

Amannda, excuse me if you've heard this before. I think I am repeating myself, but I will. I take klonopin daily and expect I will for the rest of my life, if need be, just for anxiety maintenance. I certainly wouldn't suggest stopping klonopin while switching to Serzone from nortriptyline....in my experience those were two very different drugs, and I would hang onto that klonopin at least while your body makes the transition.....shelley

Amanda,
I will echo Shelly's confidence. I've been on 1mg of Klonopin for 5 years to deal with insomnia and I cannot discern any side effects. Long term, I cannot find much in the research data to indicate problems and it's the only thing that works for me.

I agree. I have been taking Klonopin for over 5 years without any adverse affects.

I have been on Klonopin for over 4 years. I love it ! It basically saved my butt. I was having HORRIBLE anxiety and panic attacks for years. I refused any pharmaceutical drugs because I was such a health nut. (More like nuts period) Anyway, I take 1mg (blue) at night and take 1/2 during the day if needed...works for this nut!

>It's been a long time since anyone has interacted here. If anyone's still out there, I'm wondering if anyone has felt the need to up their doses after being on Klonopin for a couple of years.Sometimes I feel like my dose isn't doing what it used to. I suppose it could also be at times of greater stress and so I feel heighted anxiety because life is just harder. Anyways, I'd appreciate any input anyone might have.
>Rachel P.S I'm also on Celexa.

I've been taking .75mg to 1.25mg a day for 2 1/2 years for abnormal nerve activity which cause chronic pain. I take it for Generalized anxiety disorder and it works great!!!!! I've been on paxil and trazodone also for 4 years now and working myself slowly off the paxil. I don't care how long I have too take this stuff. At this low of a dose, I've been able to stop it for months at a time without any problem. Whenever I feel the need to take more, I actually reduce it several days and then the tolerance changes and the regular dose works! Another trick is to do some deep relaxation exercises which really helps alot. This will keep you from needing to increase the dose...

I have been taking Serzone and Ativan for panic and trimmers. The doctor wants to switch me to Klonopin only. Does the Klonopin help trimmers and panic both? Can anyone tell me from experience that it is better than Serzone. Serzone is just so sedating, is Klonopin the same?
