new to CELEXA

Posted by Jamie on May 11, 1999, at 21:14:02

I have been taking CELEXA for about two weeks. For the first couple of days I was very sleepy and sometimes a bit confused. This seems to be going away. Before I started taking CELEXA, I seemed to become too obsessed with playing stressful situations in my mind over and over. My moods would swing in a matter of hours from good to very bad. I would pace for hours just thinking about it. Now, things just don't seem to bother me as much as before. The good moods are so great that I feel like I am high on something. When I crash (and I can tell when I do) into a bad mood, I just want to get back to that good mood state and its much easier. I am obsessed with my weight and found that I can still control it with CELEXA. I have had no sexual side effects. My mind does not dwell on issues of non-importance. Maybe I am so hopefull that it will work that I'm talking myself into accepting it. Perhaps that is part of the cure. I hope so.

Congratulations Jamie!

It sounds like you may be on your way! Good for you! How long have you been depressed? I have been on Celexa since February, and doing very well on it. Before that, I had been depressed for many years, but always put the blame on myself for being sad all the time. What dosage are you on? I am on 20 mg, but am thinking about asking for an increase in dosage 'cuz I have had a slight return of some depression symptoms, but I'm definitely still better than I was before.

> I have been depressed since January. I have had at least two other episodes of major depression in my life. I have always been moody, unhappy and often sad. I would like to live the next 20 years of my life feeling normal. I am currently on 20 mg and have an appointment to talk to my doctor in another week. Thanks for sharing your experience. I'll keep in mind that increasing my dosage is an option. I just don't want to go back the black hole of depression, although I know that the possibility exists. I'm glad to here that you are doing well on Celexa. Let me know if the increased dosage helps.

Hi Jamie. I know how you feel. I will be seeing my doctor this coming Thursday, and will TRY to remember to let you know what he says about an increase in dosage. I'm hesitant to ask for it -- don't know why, but have been talking about it with my therapist. Part of my problem is some paranoia.
