Zoloft and bad taste

Posted by Diana on April 29, 1999, at 20:16:45

I have a patient who is well managed on Zoloft 150 mg
every day...major complaint is that he has a persistent
bad taste in his mouth. Any ideas for management of
this side effect?

I found Zoloft dehydrating, which I suppose might cause a bad taste due to decreased saliva.

It must be dehydration. I have taken Zoloft at doses varying between 100mg and 200mg a day. I drink between 1/2 gallon and 1 gallon of water everyday and I never noticed a problem unless I was dehydrated.
In fact, a foul taste in your mouth is a sign of insufficient fluid intake.
