Side effects of Dextroamphetamine

Posted by Meaghan on March 22, 1999, at 4:59:34

Hi... I don't have narcolepsy in a strict sense, but I do have periods of sleep during the day lasting up to 4 hours. I cannot stay awake and often it is like being paralysed with vivid nightmares. I have PTSD and am dissociative. This only affects me when I am on my own. My therapist has put me on 60mg Dexamphetamine, and although it prevents me from sleeping - I still feel really tired and lethargic. I don't have any of the anticipated effects of feeling energetic, euphoric or of physical arousal. I wouldn't even know that I had taken them! Anyone else with a similar experience?

James here...

Many ADD'ers have this parodoxial effect with stims.

Hi, Mel C from Australia here...

I'm taking 4 dex once a day... first thing in the morning - it's the only way of getting through my working day! Downside though, since I've been taking them, I had little to zero Libido, I find it difficult to sleep through a whole night and find depending on my cycle, I can still have affects similar to those I had when first adjusting to the medication. I am seriously getting to the point of giving up and looking at alternative methods of controlling my ADHD. Any suggestions before I go that drastic?
I've been taking this level of dosage for about 7 months now.

Any info would help or at least to know someone else has had similar hassles....

Mel
