high dose pemoline and intracranial vasculitis

Posted by Sandra Tyner M.D. on September 16, 1998, at 1:38:18

I assume that there are patients out there who are taking high doses of pemoline for conditions such as narcolepsy, idiopathic hypersomnia, etc..
To the best of my knowledge there are no reported cases of intracranial vasculitis associated with the use of pemoline at any dose.
I would be interested in hearing from physicians who are treating patients with higher doses of pemoline and would appreciate any comments they might have to offer on long term toxicity. I am particularly interested in the problem of periventircular hyperintesity or small vessel ischemic changes on MRI.
I would also be interested in reports of patients on higher doses of pemoline who have had normal MRI's.

This is the end of the thread.
