Ultram addiction/withdrawal anyone???

Posted by LadyBug on July 6, 2005, at 9:04:37

I have severe arthritis and my Dr. put me on Ultram about 3 weeks ago. The RX says I can take 4 a day. I've only taken one a day and a few times 2 a day. I've even skipped a day if I'm not at work and not over doing it. After taking this I feel like I can function without so much pain going on. But I don't want to suffer from addiction/withdrawal.
My concern is with addiciton to this stuff! The pain relief is great but I'm so afraid of addicition. My husband is a recovering addict and I've watched him go the rollercoaster with narcotics. I don't want this to happen to me!
I'm afraid to even take one a day now. I didnt take one yesterday because I was off work. Last night I didn't sleep worth a darn.
Does anyone have any experience with this drug? Could I be addicted to it already in just 3 weeks?
I'd appreiciate any feed back anyone might have.
Thanks
LadyBug

You couldn't get addicted in any significant way to the reasonable dose of Ultram you are on in 3 weeks.
If you want to use it without addiction, you could try having maybe 3 days a week where you didn't take it.
If you do become addicted (or whatever the right word is) to it you will be able to taper off it easily enough. I don't have a lot of experience with it but it seems like like propoxyphene or codeine.
