hellos?

you have quit drinking, yeah?

how long have you been sober for?

i... vacillate about whether i need to do that or not. i know that i need to never smoke anything again (or i will quickly revert back to 30 a day) but i feel ambivalent about alcohol. because i have periods were i don't drink and i don't really miss it. and then i can seem to have a glass or two on occasions. so i'm not entirely sure i need to totally quit that the way that i know i totally need to quit cigarettes.

how are you doing?

My life is sh*t, thanks.
12 years of marriage to a verbally abusive husband will come to an end this year if all goes well. Not drinking as it doesn't do anything anything but give me migraines at this point.
He's isolated me, along with the depression, to the point where I have no local support. I am working to make that better (women's group) and I will try to put this period behind me.
Thanks for asking.

i'm glad that you have women's group. i hope that you can expand that out, somehow... the social supports, i mean.

it is a horrible feeling to feel lonely and isolated. i'm sorry to hear that things aren't going well in your marriage.

hang in there. i hope that things get better for you soon. that this time next year... you will be somewhere closer to where you want to be in life.

peace.

I think I could live quite happily on my own, with my cat. Friends are welcome at any time. Security, though, is an illusion. And there are plenty of people out there without a formal dx who are far sicker than any of us here.
Eventually, I will thrive. After 50 years (rolling eyes).

Peace to you, to.

You will indeed thrive. Go out and kick some butt!

(You don't give up easily).

:-)

Thanks Scott. Having Dr Bob tell me this place wasn't suitable for me was a kick in the gut. A lot of peer support, stripped away.
But he hasn't banned me.
:-P

I don't know that he meant to say that. In the context of the discussion.

I think you sometimes get this idea that people are forcing you to go or something when that isn't the case (you thought I was trying to get you booted not so long ago, Scott, too).

I think he asked if there was something else that you wanted on the menu?

Maybe you could see about getting Dinah back and you guys could moderate a board where you both felt safe. For extra support, I mean.

Hi PC,

I FEEL (not the civility, less Bob take offense) that Bob was in error. Unless he meant that you are unable to accept that the chaos that spread from admin to the other boards is supportive, in which case babble is unsuitable for me also.

That is what I felt he was trying to tell me. That the chaos that is now a current state of babble, and as such it is unsuitable. Apart from brief interactions like this, I agree. This makes much less work for him.
And much less stable, and thus more dangerous, for me.

What's suitable for you is up to you. Even if I said Babble was unsuitable for you, which I don't think I did, you could disagree.

If you wanted a refuge, and I wasn't making Babble a refuge, then you might conclude Babble wasn't suitable for you. And I might say it wasn't -- since what you were considering suitable was a refuge.

But maybe you also want peer support. And maybe that's actually more important to you. Better peer support at a sh*t-slinging site than feeling alone someplace less chaotic. Maybe. For you.

Still, losing a refuge, and a feeling of safety, will of course make things less stable and more dangerous.

Bob

Bob, interactions with you have become increasingly unfruitful for me and circular. I am going to try to limit myself to what I consider safe communications with peers with whom I have become close to over the years, and those new ones I find.

Thank you for your input. I hope you don't mind me using the site to use my own particular purposes. If I behave out of turn and go beyond the civility guidelines, of course I expect to have the same rules applied to me as any other member.

I respectfully request, though, that our aspect of this discussion go no further.

Please do. Best wishes,
