Happy Canada Day! Happy July 4!

Posted by Deneb on June 30, 2012, at 23:22:51

It's Canada Day!

What are you doing on Canada Day/July 4?

I'm going to brave the massive crowds downtown tomorrow. I'm in Ottawa so the crowds are massive. I think I'll check out a few museums too.

I hope it doesn't rain!

Need to remember the sunscreen too!

Happy Canada Day! Have lots of fun!

I'm going to two nights worth of fireworks next week. Maybe three if I get ambitious. And plan to spend the day of the fourth sitting by a lake with friends.

Anyone else?

We've been invited to a party in the park to watch fireworks.

I suspect I'll be at home in the air conditioning, with as few clothes as is decent, moving as little as possible. And soothing two sound sensitive dogs.

It's been hot down here. I hope we soon get the normal summer rains again. Not of course so heavy as to cause flooding, or damage to people or property. And of course not so full of thunder as to throw above dogs into a frenzy.

104 here as I write this. Dinah will be doing the same. Even though invited 5 hours away to brother in laws even there will be inside. Most time spent in driving with air!!!! What did we do without air condition? Phillipa

I went to the Museum of Science and Techology, walked a little downtown then walked a bit inside the mall. The museum was the best part. Being older I now have more interest in history because I understand things more. It was neat seeing all the older technologies.

They also have a new sex education exhibit. There had been some controversy with that before but I think they now raised the age to get inside without an adult to 16. It was interesting but didn't really show me anything I didn't already know. I liked playing the interactive games.

In this one game you hook up with all these people then someone finds out they have an STD and then everyone gets it LOL. The game falls apart literally lol. Everything turns red and breaks down lol.

I saw one mother with her three boys inside looking at this one exhibit showing the male anantomy.

After the museum I ate a poutine then went downtown. I was getting really tired and I got a stomach ache. I kept having to go to the washrooms but as the minutes ticked by the lines to the women's washrooms grew exponentially longer lol. When I went in the line was maybe 20 people long. When I got out it was like 60 people long lol.

With my bad tummy I decided to go home early. I still had fun though. I don't like the massive crowds. There are no places to sit, no washrooms without insane lineups and lines for everything lol. The museum was really nice though. I will go again next time. I could only visit one museum though. I got tired pretty quickly.

Now you have to celebrate the Fourth! » Deneb

I think you need to celebrate the fourth too. In the name of honoring your heritage or something. Either your American heritage or your heritage as a member of a species that loves to make things go boom! Just about anything goes for the fourth except poutine. Definitely no poutine.

I sure wouldn't be living in New Orleans without air conditioning. Whoever invented it is up there with the other people making great contributions to humanity.

Saw some great fireworks last night and I'm off to do it again today. I just wish it weren't so hot. I wonder if I can wrap myself in ice cubes.

I've read of people freezing their clothes before putting them on lol.

I'm glad you're having fun!

I have July 4th off too lol. It's because we call a lot of Americans at my work so I guess they didn't think we should call them on July 4th lol.

Since I'm also a US citizen, I think I'll celebrate as well. lol

It's really hot here too, I'm going to the movies.

I hope everyone had fun!

I managed to get a few small home projects started and finished. It was a very nice day.

We also watched much of the History Channel's "Revolution" while we worked.

Glad you have fun Dinah!

I saw The Amazing Spiderman today. It was pretty good I guess, but I felt like it could have been better. There was a lot of unexplained stuff and somehow I felt disappointed that Peter Parker wasn't more "good". But I guess it was an idealized version of spiderman that I had in my head. This movie certainly did make him more human though I guess.

I guess he does develop his character a bit, but I didn't think he was so "amazing" lol.

Also there wasn't much humour, it was kind of depressing, lots of people dying lol.
