Armed Forces?

Posted by Deneb on April 13, 2011, at 4:28:46

I want a career already. I'm actually looking into the armed forces, but I'm sure I will be screened out. I'm so physically unfit that it is not funny. I can't run for more than 1 minute without practically passing out. I'm probably even too short at 4'11". And there is a medical exam and review. I'll never get past that with all my psychiatric issues!

I bet they don't want someone who can become dangerously unstable just because something bad happened or just from missing meds a few days.

Is it possible they'd accept me despite all my problems?

I guess if I really want this I could always try increasing my physical fitness. There's not much I can do about my psych problems though, or my height.

Maybe this is all for the best. I don't want to be sent away to a dangerous part of the world one day or have to kill people.

More than 90% of the jobs in Ottawa seem to require French and I can't speak, read, or write it! I'm so screwed. Maybe I should move. Or learn French. I don't know if I can learn it well enough.

I need a better job than this minimum wage job that I have!

I'm the last person the armed forces would want to enlist. At least, in my current state. I think I would probably have a nervous breakdown in boot camp or shortly after. I would think they want enlistees with a clean bill of mental health so that they don't develop PTSD until near the end of the deployment. It wouldn't do much good to start off already being damaged.

My Son was blinded as a lot of you know during Desert Storm works helping troops coming home file Disability Claims and Now will work at Berkley with a large paying job all geared toward military. No if have mental issues the military isn't the place for you. PTSD seems to accompany a good portion of the returning troops. Seems benefits are also being cut to military. Visit Veterans of Modern Warfare on google and see the dicussions. Eye opening. Phillipa

I didn't know that your son was blinded. At least, if I had to be disabled, I would want it to be while fighting a war. That's a much better story than if you got it doing something retarded.
