Why can't we mess up our cyber profiles by entering lots of disinformation - false information that will make the internet a more unreliable source of personal information than it already is?

I wonder if that approach could bite us in the backside? I'm thinking in terms of background checks or bureaucratic snafus - how would you straighten something like that out?

PartlyCloudy, contemplating applying for something that involves wheel-barrels full of red tape. "They" don't look at our internet footprints, do they?
