drugs and job interviews

Posted by sdb on April 26, 2009, at 2:52:08

People tell a lot of things. They tell concerning job interviews for example.

Somebody told me that he effectively used a specific dosage of alcohol for a job interview. Before the interview he took a pill that he bought in a normal shopping center that made the ethanol halitosis less detectable. After he got the job he said that the never used the alcohol again. Actually risky but a success.

Theoretically he could have used benzos what is much likely easier and less risky. But he has never heard about benzos (other people waiting for a liver transplant because of stress induced alcohol intake could have taken temporarily benzos too, but most people don't know).

How do you handle things like this when you're on a antidepressent or another drug or you take a drug (eg. benzo) for a job interview?

warm regards

I never drank before an interview for a job interviewing was kind of a hobby for me enjoyed finding out how other similar work enviornments were. Wasn't anxiouse either then of course alchohol definitely in nursing would never be safe. Phillipa ps why alchohol for a job interview?

because some people do have anxiety from such events.
thats what I heard and what I read here too. some people seem still not to know that there are benzos.
for chronic people better benzos than a liver cirrhosis, in my imho.

Hi SBD,

Clonazepam has gotten me through many job interviews. It's just enough to take the edge of my anxiety without zonking me out too much like seroquel does.

A long time ago I came back from overseas with some Dexamyl (Dexedrine/pentobarb) and used one to see my accountant.

It was unusual to be able to think clearly.

How do benzos (what are they anyway) help the liver?

they only theoretically benefit one's liver as they may provide an option apart from alcohol to deal with anxiety, and as we all know chronic alcohol abuse will surely damage your liver.
benzos (aka benzodiazepines) are a class of anti-anxiety medications, like ativan, klonopin, xanax, valium etc.
I take 1mg of klonopin. .5 at night, .5 in the morn- I like to think the morning dose takes the edge off my work anxiety, and makes the day in general more bearable.
I just wouldn't take an amount I wasn't familiar with before a job interview, too much of a good thing can make me a little loopy. I'm too twisted up with anxiety these days too feel anything beyond anxiety reduction though on the klonopin.

Hi Sid - thx.

I get it now!

I think klonopin is clomazapam(sp?).

I was very (psychologically) dependent on it about 17 years ago when my daughter was around 15 & I was on my own with her & my then about 7 yr old son. I felt REALLY anxious at the thought of running out. Kept an unused prescription in my purse for literally years!! LOL

Over the past year or so I take 3/4 pill at night if I can't sleep, or if I particularly want to get a really good sleep (the latter reason is a sort of 'pampering myself' type of thing.) Once over the past year I tried it in the day & it made me a bit too zonky. Which was probably a good thing, considering how dependent on it I got years ago.

I send you love & hugs & hope you feel QUITE well soon.

xox Kath

here are very well educated people. people from the farmer to the ceo still never heard about benzos and alcohol seems to be the easiest drug to use. for the farmers pleasure most likely only a xanax could have worked. not all people develop a cirrhosis thus there are more 'alcohol resistant' livers and less resistant.
