(((( Auntie Mel ))))

I'm sad to hear of it. I'd heard of the troubles in the industry.

I'm in better shape than most. I qualify for the retiree medical so, while it isn't free (hardly) I'll never have to worry about pre-existing conditions.

Actually I think the guy with the job of walking me out had a worse day than I did.

A bunch of people I know got it too. And just a few months ago they were whinging about how hard it is to find anyone with experience. And how few people went into petroleum related fields in college.

They will never learn. But it isn't my problem.

Meanwhile I'm painting my daughter's room.

Well, that is good news at least. One thing I really hope for someday is somewhat affordable portability of health insurance.

You're right, they will never learn. Why would young people want to go in a field where employee demand rises and falls like a yoyo. Not to even mention the mobility demands. It's been true since my father worked in the industry.

Painting sounds nice. :) What color?

I've got cans of paint piled under my desk, because I'm much better at thinking about painting than I am at painting.

I've been planning to paint our bedroom for so long that I've decided I hate the comforter set I bought before I even got around to redoing the room to use it.

I'm really sorry to hear that Auntie Mel, but it is such a relief that you get to keep your medical coverage.

Take good care and enjoy the painting.

Seldom.

Hi Auntie Mel,

Go ahead and hit me- are you going to paint your daughter's room with oil based paint?

Seriously, I'm sorry you are another victim of the economy. Juast when you think things can't get any worse, they get worse. Big sigh.

Buy plastics!

Actually I care more about the price of natural gas. Hubby's business depends more on that.

At least he won't lay himself off.

On the serious side, they did me a big, big favor and I'm glad it was me instead of someone else. If they has asked for volunteers I would have volunteered. I wanted out of there anyway, but quitting was financial suicide.
