Have urge to buy designer shoes LOL

Posted by Deneb on July 7, 2008, at 4:17:05

I've just discovered designer shoes with designers like Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin.

They are really expensive.

I found some cheaper ones on Ebay that I like. I have this urge to buy $275 pumps. LOL

Just say no to designer shoes. LOL

Repeat after me, just say "no". ROFL

Long ago and far away, I bought a pair of Ferragamo shoes because my idiot husband wanted me to go with him to a big wedding. (his partner's son) He believed in "appearances",like everyone in town didn't know that I was living in New Mexico and he was living in Oklahoma! I showed him.....I went to Neiman Marcus and Foleys and ran up bills of around $2000 for my apparel. I still have the suit and the blouse. BUT, Fayeroe, as a puppy, woke me up one morning and she was chewing on those shoes!!!!!!!

Everything that I bought was classic and I always believed that if I ever had to go to another damned big wedding, I would have something to wear!

Now, I have the suit and the blouse and no shoes.

Thank God......I have no husband.

I also bought a pair of Timberlake hiking boots and four really expensive speakers before I split. hahaha! I still have all of my extravagant stuff!!!! (He called me in NM to ask me if I had charged the speakers to him...I've always wondered why he didn't recognize my name on the charge slips) :-)

Fayeroe desired designer shoes and really cool eyeglasses! She was one chewing puppy. She is very tall and once ate a whole pan of cinnamon rolls, off of the counter. No crumbs, just an empty pan.

The lesson is, Deneb, sometimes designer shoes aren't worth the expense!

I will join you and also say no to designer purses. Is it okay to say yes to cheap knock offs? I hope so or I will have to return my mock croc shoes to Target slightly worn. LOL.

Just a warning. Shopping obsessions are an efficient distraction from stress and anxiety. They work very very well. Just as food obsessions work well, and sex obsessions work well, and health obsessions work well.

Overall, obsessions as distractions aren't a bad thing IMO. But shopping obsessions can do horrible things to your finances. Food obsessions can lead to health problems. Sex obsessions can lead to relationship problems. Etc.

I'm waiting to discover an obsession that will be as effective, but cause less damage to the foundations of my life. Babble obsession is as close as I've found. :)

Dinah ahhh so you like babble also. Great to have a person who feels as I do. And by the way your posts are extremely well thought out and interesting. You've taught me a lot on one board in particular. Thanks for your knowledge. Phillipa

Well, I'm not *exactly* recommending it. It has effects on my real life. Just less than obsessions that require the spending of money.

Thank you for your kind words, Phillipa.

I wonder if we could start that thread again on Psychology? The one about setting manageable short term goals? I need to set a few myself.

It's the "Sex and the City" effect. Don't give in to it, Deneb. Women weren't meant to totter around on $400 stilettos.

LOL Pat.

I hope the shoes were yummy and fun to chew on. :-)

I don't even know why I'm so obsessed with shoes right now. I don't dress particularly well and comfort is my main thing.

I think it's like a fantasy. The Sex and the City fantasy. LOL

Oh wow, that sounds like a lot of cinnamon rolls. LOL it sounds funny.
