Why we are glad to be alive

Posted by Deneb on June 16, 2008, at 1:22:01

It seems like a lot of Babblers kill themselves.

How about if we all talk about how we are glad we didn't kill ourselves? Maybe this will convince people who are in crisis that it's worth waiting things out.

I used to want to die a lot of the time. This was maybe a couple of years ago. Now I'm really happy.

I really like my new job. I enjoy it. I'm happy most of the time now. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being very depressed and 10 being elated. I'd say I'm a 6 or a 7 most of the time. I still get anxious, feel distressed and get angry sometimes, but overall, it's all good.

I still have some problems, but I am happy despite them. :-)

I enjoy living very much. There are always things to look forward to. There are new things to learn and experience. There are people and pets to love. There are things to share with friends and family. There are new tastes and sounds to experience. There are new ways of thinking to explore.

Here are some things that make me happy (in no particular order):
Work
Coke Zero
Babblers
Babble trips
Family
ButterBall my hamster
Dr. Bob
Eating yummy food
Showers
Sleeping
Going to restaurants
Chatting

Antibacterial cleansing clothes
Games
Having toilet paper
Windows
Butterflies
Stars in sky
Pretty snow
Sand on beach

Getting reimbursed by insurance

Lights
Medicine
Comfy clothes
Cute things
etc.

Deneb,
what a nice idea for a thread!

You were able to come up with so many different ideas-- that's a great sign. I'm so happy your moods have evened out and that your coping mechanisms are solid and in place when you have a crisis.

In no particular order
kitten
cat
husband
track lighting
having an easy job
beach glass
colorful pens

therapist
beads
yarn
ethnic food
travelling

My list is short. Just being able to excercise. Been watching the Amen TV Show and he stated that at l2 weeks excercise outpassed his example zoloft for depression. So I self-medicate. Love Phillipa but an excellent idea Deneb.

For what, the nicotine and coffee? You don't eat enough to do something like that!

I'm happy to be alive because it means I survived my flight with the f*rt*ng seat mate. Seriously, I could feel the seat vibrating.

caffeine (coffee and tea only though. no soda pop touches these lips.), nicotine and gossip dear. the rare meal is nice though, especially when pork is involved.

and the need for colon cleanse is a family tradition, passed down from my mother, who carried her fear of using the toilet on to her children (thanks mom!!!). the only time this fear is averted is when tequila is involved, but the embarrassment is always present!

I love reading this thread. :-)

I love a lot of things on your lists too.

There are many things/moments that bring happiness to our lives. Maybe we just have to stop and take a moment to enjoy them.

even the bad ones are good.

I've never seen frankenhooker - but I've seen a lot of really really bad ones.

Every sat/sun the sci/fi channel plays b-movies with a theme.

Occasionally it is zombies and you can really catch some horrible movies. Good, but horrible you know?

Seldom.

I`m glad to be alive, even though I have great sadness and sorrow at this time.
I love where I live,
Remebering the happy times with Ali
the sound of the birds singing
the sound of the wind blowing through the trees
the snow on the ground in winter
the sound of water flowing in rivers and streams
most of all for for having great friends
especially all of you on this site, those I`ve chatted to and those I`ve not yet met.
So lets not see anyone else leave us PLEEEEEEEEEEEASE, otherwise live would be full of emptyness.
