Drug reps - question about

Posted by irishcatholic on January 23, 2008, at 10:44:43

Is it just a coincidence that drug reps always seem to be attractive young females?

No coincidence. See NY Times article about how pharma companies recruit from college cheerleading squads:

omg, nothing against cheerleaders, but that is so wrong.... um, i used to think the doc actually gave me something because he thought it was good for me... not just marketing.. grr, its my mental (and physical) health at stake!! (i am sorry, a lot of my problems were caused by meds,..)

Haven't you ever heard that before a male doc will see a sales rep he will ask what she looks like?

Perhaps it works the same for some female docs if you're a good looking, former football player.

Human nature, I guess.

Phillipa, I'm sure he's nice and all that but I bet he is goodlooking too. God forbid that MD's might have to deal with average looking Joes or Jills.

You know what, its true of alot of sales jobs...looks are very important to get into see people.

We are way off medication issues aren't we?

50 huh, may have started out young and pretty, or handsome. He's probably one foot away from retirement. There's quite alot of competition to remain youthful especially in the sales professions. Lots of them are having cosmetic surgery etc. I guess their salaries have to compensate for that kind of maintenance.

I've heard of alot of 30 yr olds having cosmetic surgery too. what are they going to look like when they reach 50 if they start so young with all the injections and incisons, etc. Good or bad?

I wish I could do a few touch ups myself except no money which is the only barrier.
