Happy New year!! (plus a question!)

Posted by NikkiT on December 31, 2007, at 7:56:33

Belated Christmas greetings, and Happy new Years everyone..

Oh wow.. time flies. I realise I haven't been here in an absolute age. Things are different here.. yet the same still in so many ways!

Anyway, start with the question. Found a forum called NeuroTalk. In the URL it has "psychcentral". If this the same psych-central as Dr Grohols? I presume NeuroTalk is just an offshoot of that, yes??

An update on me quickly.. well.. my career is going from leaps to bounds.. *l* My project I have been working is coming to a close.. kind of worked myself out of a job.. but as from next week I move onto a another project, a ~very~ good one around changing my entire hospital way of working to much more a recovery model focus.. I believe very strongly in the project, and I find thwe work enjoyable.
Unfortunately, its still a commute from hell away, and I'm not entirely sure how much longer I can cope with that, so keeping my eye out for jobs nearer home. Everyone keeps telling me not to do that, and that being in yoru perfect job is most important.. but they're not the ones driving 3 1/2 hours or more each day, on top of an 8+ hour working day. Its a tough call!

Other than that, not a huge amount to report. Had the most amazing holiday to Costa Rica in October, and we have totally fallen in love witht he place. We're going to see how this year pans out, and possibly have a year out working on a farm there.. maybe!

So.. hello everyone!! And if anyone could answer my query I would be MOST appreciative!

Thanks, and hope everyone is doing relatively well,

Nikki x

Your post made me curious so I checked it out. If you click on "New Member Introductions" there, you'll see a welcome message from DocJohn. So I'd say it's definitely part of Grohol's Psych Central.

Great to see you!

And happy to hear you're doing well. :)

The job question is a tough one. It's soooo important to be happy in your job (and so hard to find a job where the working conditions, coworkers, and actual work are congenial), that I agree I'd think a few times about quitting.

Yet overall lifestyle is also an important consideration.

I don't suppose there's any way to move closer to your job? Or to find someone pleasant to ride with? My brother commutes a long distance away, and is much happier since he began commuting with someone else.

I was just thinking about you, and there you are! I must be side-kick, or sumthin.

Glad to hear you've got a great job. Too bad about the commute. How's the nerve thingy?

was just thinking of you from back on this date Jan 8, '06: >>Its been 6 days, 16 hours, 45 minutes 24 seconds since Nikki quit smoking. That is 133 cigarettes not smoked and £33.25 saved

Someone tell me a time will come when I will be able to think of something other than cigarettes!<<

Hoping that you're now almost TWO YEARS cigi free!!! = ) sorry to hear the nerve pain continues = (

as for NeuroTalk it appears to be the evolution of BrainTalk that is now hosted on PC's servers.

One of PC's volunteer admins plays co-admin over there as well.

interesting thread discussing how BT came to be on PC's server:

finding a community that fits and feels right takes time. sometimes trial and error as well.

Costa Rica?! You two are very fortunate to live as you do. Blessings for your new year and hope that your heinous commute becomes a distant memory.

Hi, Nikki! We just this morning sent off two visitors from the UK who spent the new year with us, so you can bet that you've been fresh in my mind :-) They had impenetrable northeastern accents, though, and it was difficult going in the conversation department. I must admit that my brain is a bit weary of trying to keep up.

Nice to see you here.

Hi Nikki,

Great to hear how you're doing. The Costa Rica thing sounds wonderful.

Yeah, it's a hard choice re the commute versus a job you really feel good about!

Sorry you're still having to deal with pain.

You sound so well, though.

I send lots of love, Kath

Thanks for the messages everyone.. :)

Larry - nerve stuff not good at moment.. I need to win the lottery badly for private treatment!!

Costa Rica was mindblowing, totally amazing. It was very much a wild life holiday, and I swear we lived two days for every one we were there! came home exhausted but WOW. We're completely in love with the place and the people! i really would reccomend it to anyone who loves wild life. Lots of very hair raising experiences too - I couldn't believe I'd done haf the things I had once we were home

*laughing at CS's accent comment* We met a couple on holiday who reminded me so much of you and your hubby!! They were from Washington State I think..

Hope everyone is doing OK..

N xx
