Interview with Marketing Dept tomorrow!!!

Posted by TexasChic on November 13, 2007, at 18:45:40

Well, tomorrow I have an interview with the Marketing Dept at work. I'm pretty overqualified for the position (10 yrs experience when they're asking for 2), but when I applied for the higher position they said I didn't have enough exp (!@#$%). Anyway, it would be way more interesting than my current job and there's a lot more opportunity for advancement. In my line of work Marketing is just the better way to go. So-o-o-o, wish me luck! Its always nerve racking to me to be the center of attention, and this is a panel interview! Yikes!

My supervisor hasn't said one word about it even though I sent her an email about it (she was out yesterday when they asked me to interview). I think she's taking it personally. Everyone else who I've told has been very, very supportive and excited about it for me.

Its funny, today RudeGirl came up to me and said, "So, anything interesting or exciting happening in your life?" It was so obvious she had heard! I just said, "No, not really." BTW, she just tried to get me in trouble with my supervisor yesterday, but luckily my coworker took up for me. This particular coworker doesn't like to get involved, but even she gets fed up with RudeGirl's crap eventually.

So wish me luck and lets hope this is the opportunity I've been looking for to get out of the crap I've been dealing with. And lets hope I'm not going from the frying pan into the fire. Although I've that seems to be a trend with me, so I'm pretty used to it by now.

Hi Texaschic,

I am sending good vibes your way. Remember to make eye contact with all the panel members, I've suffered through a few of those myself.

Go TC!

I can't quite say I aced it or its a sure thing, but I believe I did as well as I possibly could. The best thing about it was I LOVED the job. It would be AWESOME!!! I was the first interviewee though, so I may have to wait a while to find out if I got it or not. So now I have to find someway to put it out of my mind!

BTW, I found out my supervisor was the one who told Rudegirl about my interview. Is it just me or does that seem like a breach of confidence?

P.S. I don't think boobs would help with this group ;-)

P.S.S Phillipa, cuteboy is ancient history. He was kind of a jerk.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to wish you well beforehand - looks like you did just fine!! Fingers and toes are crossed for you. Workplace politics and confidentiality are tough to navigate; I think you are doing really well :-)

...wasn't meant to be. I guess there's something better waiting out there for me. I'll keep trying.

In the meantime, Rudegirl was out this week and it was SO PEACEFUL!!! Everybody kept talking about how nice and quiet it was. I was like, "Yeah, try being the one who sits next to her!!!!"

Thanks yall! I was disappointed at first, but the job turned out to be different from what they described, and I just wasn't qualified. But the main reason I applied at this company was because its HUGE and there's a lot of opportunities, so there will be many more chances, I just have to be patient.

The interview actually went so well I didn't really realize I wasn't qualified until later. They kept saying I didn't have the experience they were looking for, but they seemed to like me so much! But after receiving my thank you notes they called to tell me I really just wasn't qualified. I was sad, but glad to not be kept hanging. Plus now I've made connections!

wowsa! i'd be pounding me head on my keyboard screaming "why me? oh god, why me?"

you're pretty awesome, you know it? on second thought, i'd be pounding rude girl's head on the keyboard screaming 'why her, oh god, why her?'.....

it is good to make those connections though and the thank you cards are quite the touch. i'm certain you will be getting a call-back for something else that more fits you. maybe a booty call? :)

take care cutie!!!!

Thanks KK and CS! I appreciate all the support. When it comes to having a good attitude, all it really takes is to think of where I was two years ago... and then two years before that... and I realize how much it rocks just to have this job!
