Can you help settle an argument. Doesn't perfume only stay good for a certain amount of time? Then they tell you to throw it away? Love Phillipa

The usual time is about 3ish years. Some will retain their properties for a bit longer but for the most part, most "Evening in Paris" stuff will degrade to more of "Evening in Funkville" after 3 years. Something to keep in mind when tempted in a duty free shop....

I do have a few very pesky and disturbing age spots to consider.... sounds like a plan.... what it doesn't brillo-like plane off, it could bleach?

IMO, I think of fragrances as being things that do have a shelf life. Most are composed of some biological materials - like plants and such -mixed with alcohol, deionized water, oils, etc... over time, all of this can degrade and change into something different from it's original. And, it could potentially "grow" something.... REAL perfume is quite concentrated and more of the fragrance essences but I don't think it lasts forever.
Fragrance containers can be valuable and maybe there are some who do collect old perfumes but I personally would not trust it as wearable.
This is the end of the thread.
